Our History
Selkirk Nursery School was started in the fall of 1972. It was initiated and developed by Mrs. Amy Cyr-Ridgeway, who was a Grade One teacher at Centennial School in Selkirk, Manitoba. The program was open to ages 2 ½ to 5 year olds. It’s original home was in the Mennonite church on Main Street but soon moved to Selkirk High School.
The nursery school may have moved to various locations in Selkirk but the belief in early childhood education remained the core focus throughout its over 51 years. Since 1991, Selkirk Nursery School has been located in the wonderful, two-floor space in the Kiwanis Building at 236 Clandeboye Ave.
